The end of a wonderful winter semester is here. This is our Portfolio class all together. Many of these students are going on to other colleges. It was such a fun class. There was a lot of work but when you are working with great people, it doesn't feel like work. I will miss all of them. There is so much talent here. It would be great to believe we will all stay in touch, but just like cherished friends from previous classes, we will all move on and go into separate directions. I don't expect this class to make a ripple in the graphics world, I expect them to make a tidal wave! :)

I was blessed to be able to visit Belize in January. It is a beautiful country. I am using this photo to present a point. This world we live in is amazing. The beauty can be found in every corner. Even the smallest insect is amazing and wondrous. The sunsets and sunrises can take your breath away. With all of this beauty that surrounds us, why do so many people seem determined to destroy the planet that sustains our life? Please recycle. It seems like such a small thing. It can make such a big impact. It may take a few extra moments out of your busy life but it is worth it. I don't have any kids to save the planet for but I am still trying to do my best to make this world sustainable for generations to come. With the population ever on the increase, the Earth's resources will be stretched until it is no longer able to contain the human population. I doubt we will find another planet like this one, so lets do our best to protect what we have. Please take an extra moment to recycle that plastic container or the aluminum can. It may not seem like much, but a little effort put forth from everyone will make a difference. Thank you. :)

Wild Weekend

Bury the Silence rocked Club Envy on Friday night. The band consists of (from left) Addrok Garvey on vocals, Josh Hibbs on Bass,  Corey Bradfield on guitar, Brett Barrett on drums, and Roger Gundy on guitar. There were two other bands at Club Envy that night and they drew quite a crowd. Enjoyed the show guys! For more information, check out their Facebook page. Y.S.U.

This is Christopher Cordel from Yard Sale Underwear. Though one of the weirdest names for a band, they rock out to cover songs from the 70's through current tunes. They have quite a cult following as they are always entertaining. It is great dance music and gets the crowds on their feet. Check out their website at: http://www.yardsaleunderwear.com/
Come and enjoy a great night out!

New web site!

http://www.wix.com/kimmik816g/kimberly-page-creations

Check it out! Though it is aimed mainly at photography, I will post some of the design work that I have created soon. There are so many photos that it was easier to start with those first. Feel free to post any comments about changes to the web site here. I welcome the feed back. Thanks!!!

Rock on!

Lately I have been practicing my photography by attending local band gigs. It isn't easy to get a good photo in the dark rooms with the subjects moving around. This is one of my favorites. It is Justin from Shadow Status. I loved the guitar in the photo. The design on the guitar is so cool. The torn jeans add a nice touch too. Yes, his fingers are a bit blurry but he was playing at the time I took the photo and I think that also adds to the feel.  He said I could use this photo in my portfolio if I would like. Along with using the photo, I will also put in a plug for the band. Here are a couple of links to their web sites:

They will be playing at the Tulip Festival in Holland this year. Come out and see the band and enjoy the festivities!

Favorite jaguar!

In January, I went with a class from MCC to Belize. It was a wonderful trip. The Belize Zoo was a trill. This is Junior Buddy. He was born and raised at the zoo. The cage you can see behind him in the photo is for humans. There you can feed Junior. He jumps on top of the cage and you can pet his fur when he lies down. He is an amazing animal. Unfortunately the jaguar is on the endangered list. Jaguars are still hunted for their fur which is sickening. Their fur looks better on them and that is where it should stay.
